Privacy notice

Effective 3 September 2026

Presenterra is provided by Red Rock Ventures Trust, registered in South Africa (“Presenterra”, “we”, “us”). We are the organisation responsible for the personal data described on this page.

We are established in South Africa, so this notice is written to meet South Africa’s data protection law, the Protection of Personal Information Act (“POPIA”). Many of the people who use Presenterra are in the EU or UK, so we also follow the equivalent rules under the GDPR and UK GDPR where they apply to you.

1. What we collect, and why

  • If you joined the waitlist before signups opened in September 2026: your email address, and, if you followed a tagged link, where you came from. Used to send you one email that Presenterra is open, and nothing else.
  • If you create an account: your name and email address, and which organisation(s) you belong to and your role in each. Used to run your account, keep it secure, and let your organisation work together.
  • Story content: whatever you or your organisation upload or create — map data, text, images and shapes. Used only to run the product for you; see our terms of service for how we may use it.
  • Usage data: which pages and features you use, your device and browser, and an approximate location from your IP address. Used to understand how Presenterra is used and to fix problems.
  • Support communications: anything you send us by email. Used to answer you and keep a record of the conversation.

2. Cookies and similar technology

We use PostHog, an analytics tool, to understand how Presenterra is used. It sets a cookie and uses your browser’s local storage so it can recognise repeat visits from the same browser. We do not currently show a cookie-consent banner — this is a gap we know about and plan to close. If you would rather not be tracked this way, most browsers let you block third-party cookies or use a tracker-blocking extension.

3. Who we share data with

We use the following companies to run Presenterra. Each only receives the data it needs to do its job:

  • Supabase — our database and file storage, hosted in the EU.
  • PostHog — product analytics, EU cloud.
  • Vercel — hosting. Sees request logs and your IP address.
  • OpenRouter— powers the AI “describe this map” feature. It routes your request to a third-party AI model provider to generate the description.
  • Mapbox — map tiles and styles. Your browser talks to Mapbox directly to draw the map.
  • Google Fonts — your browser fetches typefaces from Google to render the page.
  • YouTube and Vimeo — only if a story includes a video and you choose to press play. We use privacy-enhanced embeds (youtube-nocookie.com), so nothing is contacted until you decide to watch.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

4. Where your data is processed

Most of our infrastructure is hosted in the EU. A small number of providers, such as Google Fonts, are based in the US; where that applies, the transfer is covered by the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or an equivalent safeguard.

5. How long we keep it

  • Waitlist entries are kept for 12 months, or deleted sooner if you go on to create an account — at that point we already hold your email for a better reason, and the waitlist copy has no purpose left.
  • Account and story data is kept for as long as your account or organisation is active, and for a reasonable period afterwards to meet legal, accounting or dispute-resolution obligations.

6. Your rights

You can ask us to:

  • give you a copy of the personal data we hold about you;
  • correct it, if it is wrong or out of date;
  • delete it, or restrict how we use it, in the circumstances the law allows; and
  • stop using it for a particular purpose, such as announcement emails.

To ask any of this, email hello@presenterra.earth. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to South Africa’s Information Regulator, or, if you are in the EU or UK, to your own data protection authority.

7. Children

Presenterra is a business tool and is not intended for children.

8. Changes to this notice

We may update this notice from time to time. If we make a material change, we will update the effective date above and make reasonable efforts to let you know.
